Privacy Policy

DeviceOpen AI (the “app”) and deviceopenai.com (the “website”) are operated by Dismantlix Labs LLC, a Wyoming, USA limited liability company (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t show ads or run advertising trackers.

1. What we collect in the app

• Account: your email address and password. The password is stored hashed by our authentication provider; we can’t read it.
• Trial and license status: when your 7-day trial ends and whether you have the lifetime license.
• Device information: to enforce one account per PC and one free trial per device, the app sends a device ID (a one-way SHA-256 hash built from your computer’s operating-system identifiers), your computer name, and hardware details (manufacturer, model, BIOS vendor/version). The hardware details also let us refuse free trials inside virtual machines. We don’t collect your files, browsing history, or installed programs.
• Repair activity: your teardown sessions (the guide, the step you’re on, its status) and your chat messages with Mariam, saved to your account so you can resume later.
• Redeem and discount codes you enter.
• Update check: the app contacts our website to check for new versions, sending its version number and platform (Windows or Mac).
• On your device: app settings and a locally stored identifier are saved on your computer. Nothing there is sent anywhere except as described in this policy.

The app has no analytics, advertising or crash-reporting SDKs.

2. How Mariam (our AI) handles your messages

To answer you, the text you send Mariam and the repair context (device and step) is processed by our server and sent to third-party AI inference providers (currently Groq and OpenRouter). When Mariam needs current information for a device we don’t have a verified guide for, our server may run a web search through Tavily using a query about the device. Please don’t put sensitive personal information in chat messages. AI answers can be wrong; always follow the safety warnings in the guides, and use your own judgment.

3. Payments

The $99 lifetime license is bought inside the app through Stripe (cards), PayPal, or NOWPayments (cryptocurrency). Those providers collect and process your payment details; we never see or store your full card number. We receive confirmation that a payment succeeded and the email on the order, and we use that to unlock your license.

4. Service providers

We use these providers to run the service, and they process data only on our behalf: Supabase (accounts, database, server functions), Groq and OpenRouter (AI inference), Tavily (web search), Stripe, PayPal and NOWPayments (payments), and our hosting provider for the website. We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect our rights, users, or the service.

5. The website

• Our web server keeps standard access logs (IP address, browser type, pages and files requested) for security and troubleshooting. We count app downloads, limited to one per visitor every 30 minutes, so retries don’t inflate the total.
• The site loads fonts from Google Fonts and an animation library from the cdnjs content network, so those providers can see your IP address when your browser fetches them.
• If you email us, we keep your message and reply address so we can help you.

6. How long we keep data

We keep account, license, chat and session data while your account is active. To delete your account and the data tied to it (profile, device record, sessions and chat history), email us at the address below and we’ll process the request. Payment records may be kept as long as tax and accounting law requires. Server logs are kept for a limited time for security.

7. Your choices and rights

You can ask us to access, correct, export or delete your personal information, or object to how we use it. Depending on where you live (for example the EU/UK or California), you may have legal rights to do so. Email us and we’ll respond within a reasonable time. We don’t sell or share personal information for advertising.

8. Security

The app and website communicate over HTTPS, account data is protected by row-level access rules so each user can only read their own records, and we limit who can access production systems. No online service is perfectly secure, so we can’t guarantee absolute security.

9. Children

DeviceOpen AI isn’t directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we’ll delete it.

10. International users

We’re based in the United States, and our providers may process data in the US and other countries. By using the service you understand your information may be transferred there.

11. Changes

If we change this policy, we’ll update the date above, and for significant changes we’ll notify you in the app or by email.
